  • upper class men and women wore a paludamentum (tunic and cloak)
  • 11th century braught added decorations and silks
  • undergarments (braies for men, chemise for women) were introduced
  • 12th century-tunics were fitted
  • 13th century-tunics were loose again
  • cape was a common outdoor garment
