Old/Middle/New Egypt

  • The Egyptian civilization grew up along the Nile river.
  • Animals were considered unclean so the textile of choice was linen.
  • Men and women wore tunics. Old Kingdom wore knee length skirts, Middle wore them to the ankle and New Kingdom people wore full or fitted skirts.
  • Pleating showed symbols of status and jewelry held spiritual connections.
  • Beards were a symbol of God and power as were headdress and make-up
